The BEST Stain Remover.
This post is brought to you by this kid:
The one that eats like a monster. The one who always seems to put more food on themselves than in their mouth. The one who seeks out all the dirt. The mess of the family.
We all have one of these people in our lives, young or old 😂
This concoction I deem as “magic” is no secret and I definitely didn’t invent it. I have, however, used it just short of a million times and it has CHANGED MY LIFE. I have several friends that I’ve shared this with over the years and decided it was time to put it in writing.
Here’s the rundown:
The mixture is made up of 3 common household items you most likely have already:
Dawn dish soap, hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda.
Let’s start with the Dawn. I seriously love this stuff. It seems so basic but I’ve found that it can take care of a lot of different kinds of stains.
TIP: When you are getting low on a bottle, SAVE IT. I use the bottles for mixing & storing the mixture. Plus, that little bit in the bottom you can’t seem to squeeze out is perfect to use when making it (a little extra Dawn in the mix never hurts anything!)
Hydrogen peroxide & baking soda are 2 things I always have in my house. Between the “boo boo’s” and chocolate chip cookies, neither ever go to waste!
Once you gather the ingredients, think about how much you want to make.
Here’s the ratio:
NOTE: I usually use 1/4 cup of baking soda, 1/4 cup of Dawn, & a 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide. You can definitely make more, just be careful not to overflow the bottle!
I use a small funnel to add the peroxide, baking soda, and more Dawn to the bottle.
Once it’s all in there, close the lid and give it a good shake. It foams up pretty quick.
TIP: When storing the bottle, leave the cap open. The mix tends to create a little pressure as it sits. Close the lid and shake it up before using each time!
That’s it! You’re ready to use it. Keep reading for some of my tips on using it!
Using it:
Shake it up before using it to remix the ingredients. The baking soda tends to settle at the bottom.
You can use a generous amount. I have never had an issue with it but if you're worried, test it out on a small spot first.
I find an old, soft bristled toothbrush helps to really work it into the stain.
Anytime I have a really big stain, I let it sit for about 48 hours untouched before throwing it into the wash. The longer it sits, the better it seems to work.
Trust me when I say, this stuff actually takes out anything. If you’ve used this mix before & can back me up or if you give it a try, be sure to comment and let me know below! Stains will never stand a chance again 😝
