ICE CREAM Fun Days.

Ice cream is one of our favorite summer treats.

You can pretty much guarantee there’s a gallon of ice cream in my freezer at any point during these warm months.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s always fun to go out and grab a cone from a local place but I’m a big fan of family traditions so I thought up a few ways to make having ice cream at home a little more fun!

Every few weeks we throw some ice cream into the mix of our busy week and my kids love it.

Keep reading for all the details for our Milkshake Mondays & Sunday Sundaes!

MILKSHAKE Mondays

Milkshake Mondays were born in our home because getting back into the weekly routine after a busy weekend is tough. I wanted to give my family and myself something to look forward to at the beginning of the week. The great thing about this is you can grab a gallon of ice cream at the grocery store and pretty much work with whatever else you have at home (even that stale couple of Oreos left in your pantry 😜).

Here’s all the ways I make our Milkshake Monday’s happen…

To Buy:

  • Vanilla ice cream (We usually always buy vanilla & go crazy with the add-ins but totally go for your families favorite!)

  • Milk (I use whole milk)

  • Add-ins (This is where it get’s fun! Here are some ideas we’ve given a try: Hershey’s syrup, Reese’s, Oreos, Strawberries, Grasshopper cookies, chocolate chips, peanut butter, brownie pieces, etc.)

  • Whipped cream

  • Cherries

I purchased these totally awesome and fun old fashioned milkshake glasses from Amazon back in April for Gracie’s birthday party. There's something about drinking a milkshake from an official glass that makes it so much more exciting. They come with the long spoons too!

HERE are the ones I purchased!

Each of us prefers a different kind of milkshake so I typically only buy vanilla ice cream to start. The add-ins are what really make this whole thing fun. My kids absolutely love customizing their own! Sky’s the limit here!

Sunday SUNDAES

Sunday sundaes became a tradition in our home for those weeks when we wanted to celebrate something. We LOVE celebrating the small and large things. In fact, one of my favorite posts that I’ve shared was about all the ways we celebrate! Check it out HERE. My kid’s know this is a fun reward and I just love that!

Here’s the scoop on Sunday Sundaes…

To Buy:

  • Vanilla or Neapolitan ice cream

  • Hot fudge, caramel sauce, strawberry sauce (we do it all!

  • Whipped cream

  • Cherries

  • Sprinkles

  • Add-ons (You can 100% use any of the add-ins from the milkshakes to sprinkle ON these!)

  • Waffle bowls (The ones I buy are linked if you’ve never tried these!)

Both of my kids are honestly pretty much plain jane when it comes to sundae toppings but it’s more about getting to scoop and customize that really gets them excited.

The best part I’ve found is eating them in a waffle bowl.

I came across these in our local grocery store and am not sure I could ever go back to a plain old bowl! My kids love eating the bowl when they finish the ice cream inside! I linked the ones I buy above.

NOTE: My “To Buy” lists are just the basics. There are endless other options! Feel free to use mine as a guide but definitely go with what works for your family!

We certainly don’t this every week but it’s fun to throw in one as a surprise or as a way to celebrate here and there!

Give one or both of these fun days a try with your kids and family or feel free to just take it as an excuse to eat ice cream yourself! Guilty!🙋‍♀️😝
