A SWEET Way To Say I Love You

I jump on any and all chances to get crafty or creative. Being a mom makes really any holiday an opportunity.

Valentine’s day is one of my favorite holidays to involve my kids with some creativity too.

This year, STRAWBERRIES were on my mind!

My girls love their fruit so naturally they were excited about them. It was also the perfect way to work in some of the pinks, whites and reds of the holiday.

I shared our craft below if you are looking for a quick, easy, and low budget way to make something super cute & fun with your kids this Valentines Day!

Materials

  • Patterned craft paper of your choice (I used 12 x 12 regular patterned paper for the strawberries & cardstock for the cartons)

  • My strawberry pattern

  • ⅛ inch ribbon

  • Treats to put into the strawberry boxes if you want!

I designed templates for the strawberry shaped gift boxes & one for the strawberry cartons.

You can find link to the strawberry SVG file HERE and the carton HERE!

Steps

  1. Once you have the patterns cut, fold and crease the paper according to the dotted lines.

  2. Glue the tab to connect each side of the strawberry to make a cone like shape.

3. Thread a piece of ribbon (around 8 inches long) through the holes. Weave it through threading from the outside towards the inside of the strawberry.

If you are planning on placing any treats inside, now is the time to do it! This is the PERFECT job for those tiny fingers.

4. Once you are ready to close the strawberry, tie a single knot and gently pull to close the top of the strawberry. You might have to help the paper fold correctly.

5. Thread the strawberry leaf through both ends of the ribbon and  pull it through to the top of the strawberry.

6. Finish with a cute little bow!

These are just TOO CUTE when they are all put together!

To make the carton…

  1. Fold and crease the paper according to the dotted lines. The edges of the carton should flip opposite the center.

  2. Glue each of the tabs to connect the sides of the carton.

My girls helped to put everything together. We filled our strawberries with strawberry Starbursts and pink Hershey Kisses! Some didn’t make it to their the treat boxes though :)

Once you have all of the pieces, there are tons of ways to put everything together. We placed some berry flavored fruit snacks at the bottom of the cartons, added a layer of pink tissue paper for a little color, a strawberry full of treats, and tied it all together with some pink tulle and a little gift tag.

If you are making these for a larger group of kids, I suggest leaving out the carton and just sticking with the strawberries!

Both patterns can be made in a variety of sizes too depending on what you are looking to make.

I can’t get over how CUTE these turned out! If you try it out, be sure to comment and let me know! I love to hear your thoughts!
